Update on Natalia
September 1, 2005
Natalia turns 5 years!!!!
What a wonderful year we had full of surprises...
It's been a very busy couple of months for our household. I
last updated Natalia's progress in February and much has
changed since then.
Natalia now humms a new tune...She had added
"Rock-a-bye-Baby"--- to her list of songs (3 to date) She
humms the first sentence, but I would guess by the holidays,
she'll have the full tune...And I am a proud mommie to tell
you, my daughter is now crawling! Such an accomplishment! We
waited a long time for this...She began crawling in June and
we now see her crawling everywhere...She loves to get to the
screen and rubs her fingers across the mesh. She likes to
crawl to the tile floor in the kitchen and put her face
against the tile...She on occasion, takes off down the hall
and we all watch to see exactly where she'll go...it is so
exciting to see her curiosity. She also will climb up your
leg for a quick hug if you stand in front of her.
Last spring I started Natalia with a new therapist. She has
made great progress in just these last few months. Its
amazing what a good physical therapist can do with these
kids...
Natalia has been enjoying sipping cold iced drinks..., we've
introduced otter-pops too...she loves them. We recently
hooked up with a Doctor of Physical Therapy...We have a
whole team of therapists looking at her...(I've finally
looked to our Insurance to help with this end of her
development) This is very exciting as she seems so alert,
happy and responsive...this should be a great year of change
for her.
We are still working on the media center for her...with some
changes in the den, new furniture and flooring it should be
done soon.
At 5 years Natalia is 45 inches tall and weighs 36 lbs. She
continues to stay on the tall end and is a good weight for
handling as these kids need to picked up from time to
time...
Natalia is spending more time in her walkers, With her
Rifton walker I can leave her to roam as she wishes.. I even
adapted a reverse-k walker with a hip stabelizer...As long
as we stay right with her she does well walking on her own,
holding on all by herself. I just need to keep my hand on
her upper back to let her know I am there.
Presently, we have scheduled a surgery to remove a soft lump
behind her ear...I'm sure it is nothing, but has been there
since May, so it will be removed next week.
The
http://livingwithtrisomy13.org site has really taken
off. We now have 29 living survivors and several what you
could term : LONG TERM SURVIVORS
It is very exciting each time we meet a new family whose has
embraced these precious lives...There are also more
Treasured Memories stories as in life there is birth and
death...So many touching stories...I do hope you have time
to visit and read and meet the many wonderful families.

Please continue to join us in praying for the many prayer
requests on both sites.
