UPDATE 11-25-06
Natalia has been very healthy since we
cleared up the branchial cyst problem of last year. She is
presently at a local school for the Blind which incorporates
the - full communication system. She’s had a good experience
at this school for the last year and a half and has made
great strides. Natalia will we transitioning in January to a
local 1st grade special day class. We are very excited about
the move and looking forward to move forward with her
development in this new environment.
Natalia can now maneuver her reverse K walker with a clear
purpose to where she is going turning and backing up. She
still needs to be pushed along if you’re in a hurry to get
to your destination, however she will eventually get their
on her own, and in her own time if you allow her to do so,
with minimal guidance. She enjoys the independence the
walker provides. She is mastering crawling up the stairs at
home with supervision, and walking up & down steps with
help. As well as standing and turning into and out of
chairs. She loves watching TV and any musical, especially
the Disney Sing-a-long songs. She enjoys playing the piano
and laying around with her brothers. She’s a lot of fun and
has quite a unique and fun loving personality.
She continues to have therapeutic horseback riding once a
week as well as private physical therapy for 1/2 hour.
Within her school program she has vision, speech, OT and O &
M therapy.
We are presently putting together a sensory area for her at
home and very excited about having a special area for her in
the den that she can access on her own. She’s growing
up...as tall as any typical 6 yr old, yet she reminds me of
a 1 /1/2 – 2 year old cognitive level child. She is
delightful!
Never would I dream she could be so much extra work, and all
at the same time bring so much pure JOY. We are blessed.
